Debbie Waldron-Hoines, Executive Director EFIA: Recognition for print excellence

The EFIA Annual Print Awards and Gala Dinner on 30 March 2011 at The Armouries, Leeds, will be, as always, a social highlight of the print industry calendar. But the importance of the UK flexographic industry coming together to review how much the industry has progressed, and to observe excellence in print, cannot be underestimated.

This year, key industry experts will review the competition entries alongside the EFIA Board Members, at Sun Chemical’s new South Normanton Impact Centre.

The judging line-up includes Norman Jackson, Operations Director at Interflex Group – Sunderland, who says: “I will be particularly interested to see how printers have exploited all current available technologies in prepress, to offer something different.”

Joining him is David Pegg, Artwork Team Manager, Cadbury Design Studio, looking for consistency across a print run and then delivering it time after time, and printers that ‘push the boundaries’ of the process and delivers environmental benefits wherever possible.

Michael Wilson, Production Manager, CRP Print and Packaging, wants to see full control of highlights and mid-tone dots; and priorities for Barry Collier, Senior Project Leader, Sun Chemical UK, are clear graphics, and clear and good contrast.

Brand owners say they attach importance to awards for excellence in print. The EFIA awards cover flexo printing of flexible packaging applications, labels, corrugated, preprint and sacks, with special awards for 2010 industry achievements.

Entrants must be an EFIA member company. To register, contact Debbie Waldron-Hoines on debbie@avant-tout.com. Awards entry forms can be downloaded from the website, or sent by email.
