FLEXO INSIGHT: Colour matters

Everyone in the chain from designer to end user needs to understand the importance of colour and how it is used. Its application is critical in the marketing of brands and essential for packaging to have stand out.

We know that different colours and shades work on a subconscious level and play on our emotions. But what has this to do with printers and plate manufacturers?

Plate manufacturers need to create plates that can lay down high ink densities and still maintain the quality required. This is an even bigger issue for shrinksleeves, which rely on as little ink weight as possible. Printers need to be able to produce the colour gamut required, including vibrant colours where unique pigments or new inks may be needed. Flexography can deliver the goods when printers, suppliers and end users all work together on an innovative solution.

New high definition plates have great potential, but it will take collaboration to make these new systems work to the standards regularly maintained by the flexographic industry today.
