Quality guaranteed

In an increasingly competitive marketplace where manufacturers are looking for cost effective solutions to reduce outgoings, increase productivity and eliminate operator error, it is essential that they can rely completely on the equipment they have in place throughout their production lines. Julie Foskett talks to Logopak about its standards of quality

With over 25 years solely dedicated to the manufacture of print and apply labelling systems, Logopak is inherently proud of the first class service and advice it can offer its customers, and Wilson Clark, general manager at Logopak UK, is unwavering in his belief that expectations of print and apply labelling systems should be raised.

With this in mind, he explains how Logopak’s knowledge and extensive experience in the field is second to none, and how continued research and development has enabled the company to take print and apply labelling solutions to another level.

“Logopak print and apply labelling systems and software have become an integral part of high speed and critical production lines, providing significant benefits in product traceability; product identification; product distribution, and the capture of product data for later use,” says Mr Clark.

“Our customers are looking for systems that they can rely on, and as production lines become increasingly more automated, with fewer people on the shop floor than ever before, it is essential that they have peace of mind, knowing that the equipment they have installed has been built to last.”

“By designing and developing our systems entirely in-house, we have made a conscious decision not to use any other brands or OEM print engines. This means that we can absolutely guarantee the quality and consistently high standards of our products, as well as the compatibility of the software and components used. Ultimately, it is our job to provide the best print and apply solution on the market, and the only way we feel this can be achieved is to have complete control over every aspect of its development. It also means the headaches that can often arise due to limited availability of spare parts never becomes an issue for our customers, as we have everything to hand.

“At Logopak we have a highly trained and experienced team of project engineers that review each application and then work closely with our manufacturing team to develop production instructions. Each step is co-ordinated and controlled by the engineer responsible for the project, from the determination of the machine specification, to the documentation and application planning, through manufacturing to installation.

“Our extensive knowledge of the industry means that we know exactly what is required of a print and apply system. And today, in the present economic climate, our customers need to feel confident that their investment is a good one. The fact that a significant percentage of our sales are repeat business and referrals is proof that we are continuously succeeding to meet these requirements. Our job is to excel in all areas of print and apply, from software development through to after sales care and training. We are reassuringly exceptional at what we do.

“With the recent launch of our new generation of compact entry level print and apply labelling machines, the Logopak 400 range has been equipped with email facilities to provide remote warning of errors or service needs.

“This feature we has made life even easier for our customers, as they can now benefit further from a significant reduction in downtime, while in return maintaining a healthy production line. Aimed at mid-speed duties, in the range of 50-60 shrink wrap collations per minute, the Logopak 400 series employs the newly developed Powerleap 3 control system that triples the speed at which images are formed in the printhead, compared with standard print engines.

“This high ‘refresh rate’ maintains output on applications such as mail order and in warehousing operations, where virtually all label data can change between one item and the next. The email facilities available on the new 400 machines means that fewer skilled people are required to supervise the labelling operation. Should the controls sense a potential problem or service requirement, an email can be sent to alert site maintenance engineers, or Logopak’s own technicians. In one instance, a replacement part was ordered and delivered even before the operator was aware there was a problem, saving significant downtime and loss of profits.

“And with five experienced Logopak service engineers on the road, we can offer tailored after-sales care - invaluable for line productivity.”
